Nestled in the heart of the Swartland at the edge of the unique mountain range that stands as an island lies Piketberg, home to Dunn's Castle. Piketberg is about an hours drive from Cape Town and a half hour's drive from the West Coast. It stands alone in the middle of undulating fields of wheat, green vineyards and flowering canola. Dunn�s Castle was built in the late 1890's for George Dunn and designed by Sir Herbert Baker offering cozy rooms with Victorian finishes. There are five double rooms in the Castle complete with country d�cor, a fireplace and bath, all have double beds. At present we can accommodate 60 guests in total on a Bed & Breakfast or Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis or self catering. Three self catering cottages from the period with secure parking will cater for two to three people each. We have added another 20 new self catering units that are fully equipped and sleep two persons each. The Castle offers a peaceful retreat from the busy lifestyle we all experience. Enjoy a refreshing drink on the patio and gaze out on the amazing view of the entire Swartland.
The " Kings Suite " offers your own TV room with fireplace, magnificent bedroom with the best views of the Swartland and a bathroom, lounge, reading room and wood paneled loft. Complimentary dressing gowns and all meals served in your own dining area. Look at this ! Ideal for the Honeymoon couple and that special anniversary get away. You will not find this anywhere else in the country. You want that special place - we got it right here ! Please note that children under 16 cannot be accommodated in the Castle due to the antiquity of the furniture and ornaments. No Pets allowed.
The " Queens Suite " offers your own TV room, bathroom on suite, fireplace and lounge. Recently completely refurbished in tasteful elegance of the period. Previously the honeymoon suite now a room fit for the queen.
Dunn's Castle has twenty newly built self catering units , fully equipped kitchenettes with individual braai facilities and balcony with magnificent views, two single beds and bathrooms en suite, with baths. Optional self caterers have double beds and showers for those who prefer showering. We also have three " Old World " units sleeping three persons with a double and single bed with en suite showers also with built in braais on the patio. The self caterers are like hotel rooms complete with linen, bath towels and serviced daily. Each unit comes with TV, radio, fridge and microwave. Breakfast and Dinner is optional on request for those who want to relax during their stay.
